THE CONNECTIONS BEHIND THE MUSIC

A world
in rotation.

A few places—and what stayed with me.

The first dance floor was at home.

My parents’ parties were full of salsa and merengue. I remember the box strobe sitting on top of the television. Long before I had turntables of my own, music was part of how our family came together.

SOUND THEORYby Elvis Suarez

A lifein music

Elvis Suarez has built a career on an ear that artists and audiences have come to trust. A DJ, producer and remixer, his work spans international performances, recorded music, radio and music direction.

01 / RECORDS & DANCE FLOORS

An ear
for the floor.

Years of violin and choir developed alongside an immersion in rave culture: musical discipline on one side, the freedom to play whatever moved him on the other.

His productions and remixes have appeared on Big Love, Launch Records, Stones Throw Records and South Of Saturn, with early records finding their way into Fatboy Slim’s sets.

Philadelphia became his formative club chapter, where opening slots grew into residencies, weekly sets and appearances at Made in America. Los Angeles brought a different range of opportunities, from nightclub bookings and Hollywood premieres to music for film and commercials.

02 / RADIO & BEYOND

Behind
the broadcast.

Today, Elvis produces and co-curates Surface 2 Air Radio on SiriusXM’s Diplo’s Revolution, channel 53. He and host Neil Jackson choose the featured DJs together, pairing mixes with interviews in a show that airs twice a week.

Elvis handles all production, bringing his experience of making and playing records to the way the show comes together.

He continues to perform internationally, while his career has also led him into music direction and creative consulting. Across those roles, he remains interested in what first drew him to the underground: music without the obligation to stay in one place.

SERVICES

Music with intention.

Music direction

Defining the music in your idea.

An agency building an experience. A restaurant defining its character. An event with a story of its own.

Elvis starts with your vision, explores what it can sound like, and shapes the music to serve your purpose. The result might be a bespoke soundtrack, a restaurant’s sound, or music woven through a live production. When others will carry it forward, he puts the direction in writing.

Live performance

Prepared for the occasion. Created in the moment.

A live occasion has no second take, and every musical decision happens in front of your guests. That is the responsibility Elvis takes on.

He builds each performance in real time: reading the room, choosing the music as it unfolds and adapting when plans change. Your vision sets the context; his judgment carries it through.

Composed and well presented, from the first track to the last.

ABOUT

Led by
Elvis Suarez.

Elvis brings decades of experience translating people’s intentions into music—understanding what they want to achieve, even when the words aren’t yet clear.

His work draws on a deep understanding of how sounds interact and how people respond: physically, emotionally, individually and together. Just as important is the collaboration behind it—listening, communicating, working through different perspectives and delivering when it matters.

Across live performance, music direction, film and audio production, that experience serves one purpose: helping people realize what they’re trying to create.

RESEARCH

The business
of atmosphere.

Research offers context—not a promise
of the same result in every room.

FIFA World Cup 2026

01

Musical direction with room for regional influences.

Working with the agency coordinating DJ bookings across US host stadiums, Elvis authored creative music guidance for the participating DJs.

Express the vision. Protect the brand.

Elvis defined a musical direction built around big, widely recognizable records that reflected the client’s creative vision. Specific track examples gave DJs a clear starting point.

Celebrate the countries competing.

Music from the countries playing that day should be woven throughout the performance, with guidance on how often to bring those selections into the set.

Bring the host city into the sound.

Regional music should give each performance a sense of place. The guidance favored recognizable records that connected with a broad audience, rather than obscure regional selections.

Connect across generations.

Music should connect with listeners from eight to eighty. Nothing profane, offensive, or racially, religiously or politically charged.

02

The guidance, in sound.

Alongside the written guidance and specific track examples, Elvis recorded a 30-minute reference mix, so the DJs could hear the direction, not just read it.

Protect the concept.

Every event has a strong theme designed by the production team. The handbook helps DJs hold that vision from the first record to the last.

Land the moment.

Many events include timed activations. After one ends, start with a record whose intro is recognizable from the very first beat.

Know the room.

Notes on international ports, regions and clientele, from European itineraries to sailings out of Miami.

Give the theme a sound.

Musical notes for themed nights, such as the scales that give an Asian-themed evening its character.

Aerialists perform above guests during a show aboard a Virgin Voyages ship.

02

Every event, in sound.

Each event and venue in the handbook has its own 30-minute reference mix, so every DJ on every ship starts from the same sound.
